Healthy living is essential in this culture because it acts as a form of respect for yourself. There are many benefits for improving yourself and your lifestyle. It rewards you with a clearer mindset and stronger physical health. Most certainly you will be able to see and feel the difference between making minor changes. Sometimes it is those little things which make an overall major change. For example, drinking more water than you usually do, as this helps flush out toxins. There are many aspects to look at it from and this post will explore the following below:

Culture

We’re in a time where we see black people achieving great accomplishments. In television, music and arts, the works are being recognised. This increases the production of work, so therefore we must learn how to live a well-balanced life, which is suitable for you. It’s about being able to respond and cope with situations accordingly so you can work out what works best for you and others around you. For example, if you need to commute for a job. It’s about being able to find the best route for you reducing minimal disruption to your day. Β In our culture, it is easy to get wrapped up in living a busy life. London is the capital city of the UK, that explains it all. We move at a much faster pace here than other cities in the country. For example, in Nottingham, it is slower paced there. I believe it’s due to it being in a rural area or near a countryside. Whereas in London, either you’re rushing to work or having multiple situations going on at one. It can be difficult to remain balanced when pulled in many directions; such as maintaining a steady job, extracurricular activities or investing into hobbies and interests. You’re jumping from one milestone to the next in order to strive to complete goals you’ve set out. When you ever get time to just relax and look back at everything you’ve done? This is where balanced living comes in.

Self-Care

It also entails taking self-care in practice every or most day. It requires you to take time out of yourself, which to help replenish your mind, body and soul thoroughly. It could be something simple as making sure you don’t miss breakfast in the morning. Or it can be as big as treating yourself to a present for completing something important or reaching a milestone in your life. Those little pleasantries reward the circuits in your brain. Furthermore, inducing the production of dopamine and serotonin. This is helpful for people suffering from depression or anxiety. As it manages down those symptoms and reinforces a positive move back on the calm road. Boundaries are another form of self-care because it shows what you will and will not welcome in your life. It acts as self-protection tool to ensure you run your life incoherence to your values and morals. This increases your internal compass to steer you in the direction of how you would like your life to go. It doesn’t matter how fast or slow you are moving, as long as you are doing what you feel and understand is best for you.

Lifestyle

Healthy living as a lifestyle is not just diet or exercising. It could mean working in an environment that is clean or organised so your mind isn’t fuzzled. As well as, creating visually appealing surroundings to look at so it produces a sense of immediate calmness. That contributes to your overall well-being allowing you can manoeuvre better. Also, it is knowing when to take a break from your schedule. Especially, where black people are always striving to achieve and there is constant pressure to deliver. You don’t want to overwork yourself otherwise you’ll burn out and that can be frustrating. The pressure can come at a cost to your mental, physical, spiritual and emotional health. It is essential to know what its time to take a break and have me-time. It will allow you recuperate and can even expand and boost your creativity levels. Your mind is at rest, so with all that extra head space. It can be filled with relevant ways on how to improve different points of your life to reinforce the bodily homeostasis.

Remember your time and space is precious.
