Sometimes I Just Like To Write (Update)๐Ÿ“

Dear diary (๐Ÿ˜‚ just kidding),

Hello๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿพ

I haven’t wrote a post like this in a while, I’ve been focusing more on the practical side of things. Slightly ignoring typing detailed blog posts, so this morning I thought I decide to start doing this.

The past couple of months I’ve been doing artsy things and you can see this in the previous posts. However if you go further back, you’ll be able to read in depth posts you may be able to relate to.

One reason why I’ve been doing the artsy stuff is because it’s more engaging and it keeps your mind at bay. It puts you into a meditative trance where all you’re doing is concentrating on the practice in front of you.

Also, you can’t be so serious all the time. It’s very dense and wears you down. You have to find balance in between being serious and still keeping things light hearted. Otherwise, it will become overwhelming always focussing so heavily on being stiff. It will affect your body and muscles. I think doing Yoga and getting exercise in is beneficial to loosen those areas, so energy can move more fluidly through your body.

What do you do in your pass time?

Healthy Living – Culture, Lifestyle & Self-Care #mentalhealthawareness ๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿพ๐Ÿง–๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

Read on below๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿพ

Healthy living is essential in this culture because it acts as a form of respect for yourself. There are many benefits for improving yourself and your lifestyle. It rewards you with a clearer mindset and stronger physical health. Most certainly you will be able to see and feel the difference between making minor changes. Sometimes it is those little things which make an overall major change. For example, drinking more water than you usually do, as this helps flush out toxins. There are many aspects to look at it from and this post will explore the following below:

Culture

We’re in a time where we see black people achieving great accomplishments. In television, music and arts, the works are being recognised. This increases the production of work, so therefore we must learn how to live a well-balanced life, which is suitable for you. Itโ€™s about being able to respond and cope with situations accordingly so you can work out what works best for you and others around you. For example, if you need to commute for a job. Itโ€™s about being able to find the best route for you reducing minimal disruption to your day. ย In our culture, it is easy to get wrapped up in living a busy life. London is the capital city of the UK, that explains it all. We move at a much faster pace here than other cities in the country. For example, in Nottingham, it is slower paced there. I believe it’s due to it being in a rural area or near a countryside. Whereas in London, either youโ€™re rushing to work or having multiple situations going on at one. It can be difficult to remain balanced when pulled in many directions; such as maintaining a steady job, extracurricular activities or investing into hobbies and interests. Youโ€™re jumping from one milestone to the next in order to strive to complete goals youโ€™ve set out. When you ever get time to just relax and look back at everything youโ€™ve done? This is where balanced living comes in.

Self-Care

It also entails taking self-care in practice every or most day. It requires you to take time out of yourself, which to help replenish your mind, body and soul thoroughly. It could be something simple as making sure you donโ€™t miss breakfast in the morning. Or it can be as big as treating yourself to a present for completing something important or reaching a milestone in your life. Those little pleasantries reward the circuits in your brain. Furthermore, inducing the production of dopamine and serotonin. This is helpful for people suffering from depression or anxiety. As it manages down those symptoms and reinforces a positive move back on the calm road. Boundaries are another form of self-care because it shows what you will and will not welcome in your life. It acts as self-protection tool to ensure you run your life incoherence to your values and morals. This increases your internal compass to steer you in the direction of how you would like your life to go. It doesn’t matter how fast or slow you are moving, as long as you are doing what you feel and understand is best for you.

Lifestyle

Healthy living as a lifestyle is not just diet or exercising. It could mean working in an environment that is clean or organised so your mind isnโ€™t fuzzled. As well as, creating visually appealing surroundings to look at so it produces a sense of immediate calmness. That contributes to your overall well-being allowing you can manoeuvre better. Also, it is knowing when to take a break from your schedule. Especially, where black people are always striving to achieve and there is constant pressure to deliver. You don’t want to overwork yourself otherwise you’ll burn out and that can be frustrating. The pressure can come at a cost to your mental, physical, spiritual and emotional health. It is essential to know what its time to take a break and have me-time. It will allow you recuperate and can even expand and boost your creativity levels. Your mind is at rest, so with all that extra head space. It can be filled with relevant ways on how to improve different points of your life to reinforce the bodily homeostasis.

Remember your time and space is precious.

Curves and All The Edges๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ‘™

I recently done a post a while ago talking about the The Media and how it can affect body image. I thought I’d do a follow up post to remind us all that our bodies are fine the way they are.

Here’s the link to the post –ย The Media & Body Image

On a daily basis, we are being bombarded with images that do not resemble what people look like in real life. Everything is constructed in a matter to drive sales, so people can be constantly chasing things that are unattainable naturally. In reference to the female body, there will be imperfections and flaws but in society, it may be harder to accept them without social media and the internet constantly making us believe there is one ‘ideal’ body frame. We’ve all got curves and edges, some more than others but we still have them. It doesn’t make you any less of a person, you are still valid.

However, focus on the reasons for your change and analyse which methods would suit you best to re-construct a positive change in your self image. Whether it’s going gym (maybe ask a personal trainer for advice/assistance) , watching what you eat, following accounts that encourage you to feel great about yourself. Write down what you like about yourself or stand in the mirror and feel your body, which you can the chance. Just allow your hands to flow all over and see that is all of you. It could even be picking out clothes that you feel comfortable in or that allows you to appreciate your body in a good way. I’m not here to promote excessive self-love but rather to aid a healthier self image to balance all other areas of your life.

I was chubby growing up, I didn’t even mind so much but you get to a stage where you become much more aware of yourself and it might make you become self-conscious thinking you need to change. I think this time comes during your teen to late teens. I know I’ll never be stick thin but I’ve learnt to manage and maintain my weight as it is.

It is about letting yourself be and knowing you already have pre-determined bone structure. Look into the different body types and identify with your shape. You could be big boned, smaller boned, but everyone is different. For example, depending on your bone structure, that will affect how muscle and fat is disposed around your body. There is much more to it than what meets the eye๐Ÿ™‡๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘

Body Types

A concept of thought..๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ’ฌ The post isn’t directed at celebrities but I’d like to use them as an example in this paragraph. I’ve come across many articles that celebrities complain about their weight or the way they are spoken about in magazine. Later, reinforced on social media on various accounts. I understand they’ve put themselves in a position to be in front of the public eye, but that doesn’t excuse the fact they aren’t normal human beings who should be treated with respect like anyone else.

We’ve come to a time, where it’s very easy to criticise something or someone from behind a phone or computer screen. People are seen doing this through comments or tweets on social media. They are unable to feel the consequences of their actions, which impacts someone else. It’s clearly ignorant behaviour, which shouldn’t be tolerated. There are tough decisions to be made by you either ignore such comments or letting it affect you on a deeper level.

I know it’s not easy because negative comments stick more than positive ones. It is less likely to bother you as much, when you start to accept your body for what it is and understand how to make reasonable improvements in your life. This helps your self-acceptance which will hopefully increase well-rounded health. Sometimes it is the image or goal we have in our heads that disconnect us from what we can do or is going on now.

One other point to think about: Do you think men have face similar issues about ‘ideals’ towards their body shape/weight?

I hope you can walk away from this post with a better and clearer view of yourself and not a medialised version. Concentrate on the now and your stepping stones from today. You never know where you could be in a years’ time..

Note: baby steps, baby steps, small steps amount to bigger steps.ย All images source from Google.

Tears Will Dry On Their Own ๐ŸŽถ

Tears Will Dry On Their Own ๐ŸŽถ

Tears are not always formed from being sad, sometimes they merge, from you being overwhelmed with a mixture of emotions.
Tears doesn’t mean it’s the end and things won’t get better, sometimes tears allow you to appreciate joy more once it’s here.

Tears doesn’t represent weakness, tears show you have a heart. Sometimes, your heart and mind needs to be attended to, to understand why it’s happening.

Tears is similar to being stationary. It allows you to remain tearful until you’re ready enough to experience happiness once again. Trust me you can cry from 1min to 2 hours, but once you let it out, you understand how worthy and needed it was to, at that time to continue on with your day, doing the things you love.

Finally, don’t let anyone make you feel some type of way for being you.

The Real World

The Real World

What is the real world? The life were living now, not the fantasy bubbles we have emerged from. All way through life we’ve been restricted by educational achievements and now we’re free do and please as we like.

Well let’s just say, ‘free’ to an extent. There are boundaries in place for us, to direct and maximise our potential, in our approaches to goals. Our qualifications act as the backbone to support our ambitions. There will be times you may experience episodes of despair and frustration, but the understanding on how to work on these emotions and overcome it , comes from the ability to see the positive within all issues.

Some of you can relate, in terms of, trying to find graduate or permanent well-paid jobs. The transition from education to the dynamics of the public sphere can be more than scary, than you will like to admit but at the same time exciting, because it’s new and fresh. It’s all about using trial and error, to figure out what’s best for your interests. Due to my religious beliefs, I believe God knows what your heart wants & so therefore, will fulfill it as long as you put in the work for it. For example, a rejection can simply be seen as opportunity for something better to come along. Not a insult to what you have to offer. So you aim to work harder to get it. Don’t become complacent, anything is possible!

Finally, another key thing to surviving in this life is to know yourself. Your integrity is most self-reliant system you can have to drive your motivation. Everyone is on their own path moving at a pace suitable for them, so don’t startled by social and external factors!
