Archive πŸ—ƒ – #MUSICREVIEW: Music (Old vs. New) πŸŽΆπŸŽ΅

2017πŸ‘‡πŸΎ

Over this past year, I’ve been examining the music that we consumed on a regular basis. I’ve realised there are a couple of similarities and differences between them and I’d like to discuss them in this post. After listening to a couple of older tracks on YouTube. I came to a conclusion the reason why old songs are still popular is that they were sacred before the age of technology came in. It is easily accessible to find songs, with the help of the internet. We have the opportunity of App stores which allow us to download and stream music, as well specific websites that provide the visual content for our entertainment.

Let’s backtrack to the 80s or a brief period before that.. I was watching a video of Dead or Alive’s well-known single You Spin Me Right Round. I could hear the rawness of the materials, it’s like all the little parts of the instruments come together to produce one cohesive sound. It reminded me of jingle bells and you can imagine people in 80s roller-skate disco moving to it as they go around the rink in a circular motion. Anyways on topic, it came to me the success of hits back then was the fact songs were original.

2018πŸ‘‡πŸΎ

The two paragraphs above were written sometime last year. I never got to post it, because it was incomplete so I’m releasing it today for you guys to read.

Fast forward to modern day musicπŸ‘‡πŸΎβ©

It came to my attention yesterday that there seems to be an issue with Drill Music and how it encourages violent. I can understand why people would support this case because the frequency of the music can affect the brain. Also, the language and words rapped over the beats can pressure people to act out in inappropriate ways. However, to view it in another way, it can be argued the listeners who consume the music have a mind of their own, so therefore they are in charge of their own actions, so the genre can’t be blamed for deviant behaviour.

In this current day, most beats are made on a laptop using computer programmes such as Fruity Loop or the more advanced Logic Pro editions. One advantage is making music is more accessible and can be done from any location. You can produce more with less and still create a variety. It’s reduced certain aspects of the process, such as instrument hire costs, studio time and excess musicians. However, a con could be many producers can end up producing similar beats unless they have their own distinctive style and touch in their sound.

Music is a great way of experimentation and expression because it allows you to have sounds to cater to every and any occasion or mood. It is also quite fluid to, most genres can be integrated together. So, therefore some overlap in terms of sounds and how they are received by its listeners. We will have to see how music continues to progress in the upcoming future because it is consistently developing and changing.

I’m just going to finish this post with a food for thought, ponder on the question below.

How do you think music has changed over the years?

#FilmReview: #FiftyShadesFreed The Final ChapterπŸŽžπŸ“½

Fifty Shades Freed

Hello,

I’ve done reviews before, but there were on events, products or books. So I’ve gone for different this time and decided to do a film review. This is fresh after the screening, hopefully I’ll be able to give you guys an accurate overview of what happens in the movie.

Check out the other reviews I’ve posted:Β

Fifty Shades Freed was released over the weekend in your local cinemas. I decided to watch it, after watching the first two films Fifty Shades of Grey and Fifty Shades Darker. The viewing started officially around 5:30pm, with it finishing just before 7pm. It ran for 105 minutes in total, which isn’t too long to be sitting there. It is enough to get all the good bits in without dragging it out, so you don’t get bored with the on-going storyline.

In this edition of the franchise, Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey get married and it follows them from their honeymoon to how they settle into married life as newlyweds. It is set in America, the underlying storyline follows Christian owning a corporation and Anastasia being a fiction editor at the company Grey owns. Also, you get to see the relationship dynamic between the couple and the intimate issues they face. It shows how people deal with and overcome imperfections or wrongs.

Another aspect of the film is the sexual content, Grey and Steele practice explicit acts. He portrays himself as a dominant man who takes charge over their bedroom antics. Whereas, she does occasionally but most of the time remains submissive. I believe she’s cool with playing that part, but would like him to be more emotionally open with her. This would ease the restrain on her comfort levels with him outside of the bedroom. I’ve noticed this has been a main issue throughout all the three films and this may be a result of Grey’s upbringing. Ana just want to reassure him that he’s okay and be present in the moment. Although, there’s a turning point which will change their lives forever..

The only difference about the film I found was there was violence in it. It was quite surprising, because it is from the genre of romance. Typically, you wouldn’t anticipate violent behavior in it. However I won’t go into too much detail, as that would spoil the action for those who haven’t watched it already. You get to see a bit more in depth into Christian’s family and family bonding session.

Overall I’d rate the film 7/10 (I’m adding an extra 2 points for the comfort levels on the seats and hospitality) .Β My decision is based on all the factor above I have mentioned.

Hopefully you’ll take time out of your schedules to go watch it. It is currently screening at your local cinemas and larger ones. Check out their website for prices, screening times and other options you deem important for you to know. Or just complete a Google search ‘Fifty Shades Freed’.
