Hello, we’re in February and I’m back with the first blog post of the month🙌🏾
I was thinking on the way to my local supermarket, about Fifty Shades Freed coming out next week. I’ve watched the first film and I was wondering why it’s inciting. That took me on to my next thought, it must be something to do with vicarious pleasure. I decided to look into it more. There isn’t much on the internet about it. The topic interested me and got me thinking about certain aspects of my life.
Here is the accurate definition of vicarious pleasure (Vicarious Pleasure Definition (website cited): “Vicarious pleasure is the pleasure you get not by you doing something but by watching or reading about someone else doing it. For example, you cannot play a game, but someone close to you plays it well”.
So, essentially you get excited from seeing someone else participate or do something , as if it’s happening to you directly. The whole concept is strange, because it raises the subject on how that is possible. For example, you can see someone eating pizza and you can understand how good the pizza must be. You get pleasure that way, because you’re aware of how nice it taste, even when you’re not eating yourself. This is one way to describe vicarious pleasure. In this circumstance you’re ‘imaginarily’ eating the pizza too.
Back on the topic of Fifty Shades Freed, hopefully you know of Fifty Shades of Grey; it’s a highly sexualised film. It follows the story of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. I’d suggest googling the film, because I don’t wish to go in too much details about it. I’ve heard mixed reviews about it, but after watching the film. I can understand why it appealed to so many people. The film represents the forbidden fruit. It is something you want, but you can’t touch or couldn’t even imagine taking part in. Another way it does it, is by bringing out the sexual energy unexpectedly within you. I don’t know whether this is done on purpose or that’s just how your body responses to what you’re seeing and hearing in front of you. Either way, the film was made to provoke some sort of reaction or emotion out of you. This is another example of vicarious pleasure.
Finally, you can gain vicarious pleasure through any activity. You can get from going to a performance; seeing your favorite artists perform on stage or listening to music. It is being in the atmosphere and seeing how everything fits together to provide a good show. You gain vicarious pleasure from seeing others enjoy themselves and how the artists behave, whilst showcasing their music. Consequently, as in the definition, even if you can’t do what they do, you gain pleasure from seeing the importance of it to them and their ability to do the activity.
I know this was a random topic, but I wanted to write out on it to get it out of my brain LOL.
Thank you for reading this post☺️

It’s just a bit past midnight and wrapped up in the bed covers like a burrito that’s been left un-fed. You lay on your back and stare to the ceiling. The silence in the air fills the space in.
It’s time to read a book or play on phone. One of the times in the day you spend alone. You could dream about eating a ice cream cone or something you adore more. If you’re up too late, you begin to feel a yawn.
You find a position to sleep in. On your back, front or side, whatever you decide; just hope your body won’t mind. A static placement entwined to help on the R.E.M. ride. All minimal distractions settle the mental fine.
It’s at the point you drift off without a thought. The hours pass retaining the residual heat from the overnight stay. In between the sheets, that’s a way to keep the warmth in. Feel it up like you’re floating in the sky.
I won’t break in a poetic song, because the background of the photograph won’t come last.
The funny thing is the picture is of the past (taken yesterday).
It was taken on a mobile phone, even though the detail of the grass hedge looks clear.
Also, the sun is positioned between the two branches. It reminds me of a chilled out Sunday which it was. A view you would see from a bench or something similar; depending on where you stand.
Every female can agree getting your nails done, is one of the best feelings. It brings a certain cleanliness to know you have buff nails. It also a great sight to look at your finger or toe nails and notice a pleasant view in front you.
I thought I’d share another video of my latest nail colour choice. The act and process of painting nails is therapeutic, because you concentrate on trying to perfect each nail with the brush strokes.
I decided to go with red and purple from the Rimmel London 60 Second Dry collection. The colours are called Queen of Tarts and Midnight Rendezvous. They work well together, as they are subtle colours. It’s not too bright but contrasting enough to make a difference.
It’s still the festive season, so there’s more chance to get experimental. You can choose to use these colours for when attending house parties, get-to-together or low-key events. Sometimes you’re not feeling to just use one colour, so why not use two or three (if you’re feeling a bit daring😉). There’s no limit when it comes to nail designs/patterns.
That was it with today’s post, I hope you enjoyed it and have fun playing around with different colours ✌🏾

I thought I’d try something new this evening. It’s a short random one but it’s definitely a change from the usual. It’s okay to switch up your routine sometimes and give yourself a manicure/pedicure💅🏾 . It’s not like you can leave your home at this time to visit a nail shop LOL.
So here’s to the more lighthearted approach this late evening.. I enjoy painting nails. You can just mix & match colours on how you feel. Or you can think about which design you want. The concentration on the task at hand grounds you to remain present, because you dedicate time to each nail. I chose to go with gold and red this time. The colours are a great combination, which compliment each other well. Also, you tend to see those colours on Christmas decorations too. It is used to design festive-related items such as crackers, table cloths and jumpers.
Well here’s a video of the nail look I created today:
I think it’s nice to watch as the sun set in, because the sky tends to display a variation of colours, which blends to create a rainbow (despite there being no rain). I managed to capture the sky, right before it turned dark.
I’ll demonstrate the before and after pictures below:
BeforeAfter
I decided add a silhouette effect to the photo, to emphasise the difference between the sky and the objects around it. The shades that appear give the sky a dynamic appearance, because it paints blends of colour. The idea was to focus on promoting the lower end of the colour spectrum, with a hint of brightness.

You’re never too busy to take a moment and notice your surroundings #VisualAwareness 😂.
The sky caught my eye last night, whilst I was on my travels. It was blue but the clouds had a warm pinkish tone to it. Also, it displayed a streak of orange. So, I decided to capture the moment, before the sun went down. It was also raining as well, as I thought that would add to the effect too.
I’ll show you a before and after picture of the images:
BeforeAfterThat’s all the BTS information on how the photograph was manipulated. Both taken and edited by me.
The aim was to bring out the warmer tone, to give it a subtle calmness.
Rainy days aren’t always so bad.
