I was on Instagram last night and came across this quote. It struck out at me for some strange reason. I’m guessing I could relate to it in some ways.

We have the NHS in the UK and many aspects of it provides free healthcare for the citizens. It’s one of the things in this country that should be treasured to an extent. Many other continents don’t have the same privileges like we do. For example, in America, they have to pay for medical costs. So everything comes at a expense, which must not be taken lightly. It’s highly likely in that circumstance you don’t want to mess around with your health. You wouldn’t want to do that in general. We have access to GPs, A&E, hospitals at our deposal. It would be hard to imagine if one day that wasn’t possible. It would be a shock to us, because we’ve become to accustom to having it around us our whole lives.

Another beneficial service in England is sexual health clinics. I mean without them, we wouldn’t know much about contraception, check ups and sex. It gives individuals a sound of mind to know they can get free check ups, to look for STI/STDs. Young adults, who are sexually active, should be getting regular check ups and able to understand what precautions need to be taken to avoid unwanted pregnancies and transmitted infections. This isn’t just targeted at young adults, it is for everyone, because we need to know what is going on in our bodies and how to protect it as much as we can. This doesn’t require you to become a hypochondriac, but you are in your body. This allows you to know if something feels off.

Health is “the condition of the body and the degree to which it is free from illness, or the state of being well” (Health Definition – Cambridge DictionaryΒ ) . When we deviate from this condition, it causes problems for us. It makes it difficult to function properly, because you are not operating to the best of your ability. I believe that is why exercise and other care practices are put in place to help us maintain homeostasis. We need a balanced lifestyle. This doesn’t mean following rigid structures or limiting yourselves. It is just mean being able to do things in moderation, which allows you to feel good and pro-active. You essentially decide how important health is to you.

DIY Nail Extensions: Pre-Valentines Shimmer πŸŒ·βœ¨

There’s a saying I found on Pinterest saying “Whenever in doubt, just add glitter”. I agree with that statement. Glitter can jazz up a whole look. It can take plain paint to sparkly paintπŸ˜‚. All with a couple of strokes of the brush, against the nail.

I’m using fresh nail tips from China. They resemble the ones you usually come across in a nail shop. It assists you with knowing how to place the tips according to the shape of your nail. There is 500 pieces in a box and it comes with 9 different sizes; depending how large or small your nail is.

Also, I used 3D glue because I saw the recommendations and comments on Amazon. Everyone gave it positive feedback about the duration it allows to stick. I think it was worthy a try, why not experimentπŸ˜„.

Three coats of paint excluding base and top coat is included in each look. This gives it a solid foundation. I’ve named it Pre-Valentine’s shimmer, because it’s a small teaser before the day. You know similar to shiny wrapping paper over a present. You can’t wait to see what’s underneath. Expect the underneath is a new completely nail design.

(At this point of publishing this post, this is longest time all nails have remained firmly in place. So the strength of this glue is most effectiveπŸ‘ŒπŸΎ)

Hello, we’re in February and I’m back with the first blog post of the monthπŸ™ŒπŸΎ

I was thinking on the way to my local supermarket, about Fifty Shades Freed coming out next week. I’ve watched the first film and I was wondering why it’s inciting. That took me on to my next thought, it must be something to do with vicarious pleasure. I decided to look into it more. There isn’t much on the internet about it. The topic interested me and got me thinking about certain aspects of my life.

Here is the accurate definition of vicarious pleasure (Vicarious Pleasure Definition (website cited):Β Vicarious pleasure is the pleasure you get not by you doing something but by watching or reading about someone else doing it. For example, you cannot play a game, but someone close to you plays it well”.

So, essentially you get excited from seeing someone else participate or do something , as if it’s happening to you directly. The whole concept is strange, because it raises the subject on how that is possible. For example, you can see someone eating pizza and Β you can understand how good the pizza must be. You get pleasure that way, because you’re aware of how nice it taste, even when you’re not eating yourself. This is one way to describe vicarious pleasure. In this circumstance you’re ‘imaginarily’ eating the pizza too.

Back on the topic of Fifty Shades Freed, hopefully you know of Fifty Shades of Grey; it’s a highly sexualised film. It follows the story of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. I’d suggest googling the film, because I don’t wish to go in too much details about it. I’ve heard mixed reviews about it, but after watching the film. I can understand why it appealed to so many people. The film represents the forbidden fruit. It is something you want, but you can’t touch or couldn’t even imagine taking part in. Another way it does it, is by bringingΒ out the sexual energy unexpectedly within you. I don’t know whether this is done on purpose or that’s just how your body responses to what you’re seeing and hearing in front of you. Either way, the film was made to provoke some sort of reaction or emotion out of you. This is another example of vicarious pleasure.

Finally, you can gain vicarious pleasure through any activity. You can get from going to a performance; seeing your favorite artists perform on stage or listening to music. It is being in the atmosphere and seeing how everything fits together to provide a good show. You gain vicarious pleasure from seeing others enjoy themselves and how the artists behave, whilst showcasing their music. Consequently, as in the definition, even if you can’t do what they do, you gain pleasure from seeing the importance of it to them and their ability to do the activity.

I know this was a random topic, but I wanted to write out on it to get it out of my brain LOL.

You can be sitting and thinking about nothing. Suddenly, a random thought or memory pops in your head.

What are you meant to do with it? Sit with it or hope for it to go away?

You can see it visually and mentally as if it’s happening in that moment of time.

Is that your cue to sigh or wave goodbye?

It’s triggered by something in your environment. Your mind takes you back in a time warp to that singular place, where all the action is happening. It may be in fragmented pieces but the more you look upon it. The more you can see how the pieces of the puzzle fits together.

Does that mean your brain is broken? Or is it growing and expanding?

It could be the process of new brain cells growth to replace the dead ones. Especially, if you’ve been partaking in activities that promote the production. It provides a greater function for daily life.

What are you doing daily, weekly or monthly?

The resurfacing can occur out of nowhere. Whilst in the shower or completing a task. It comes to you when your mind is silent. The trigger is a stimuli for how intense it was/is and it reaches you as it was happening in the moment.

DIY Nail Extensions: A Follow Up To Two Tone Colour DesignπŸ’…πŸΎπŸ‘©πŸΎβ€πŸŽ¨

This nail look is one of my favourites. I’ve done it before on shorter nails, but I think it looks better on longer tips. I used Rimmel London and Seren nail polish.

I started it off with a calcium gel base coat, with normal nail polish. It was finished off with gel top coat. You don’t need a UV lamp to create this design. All you need is yourself and your stash of polish paint. Also, a set with false nail tips to attach to the nail bed.

Tip: buffer the nail bed before placing the extensions, so it lays flat.

Once you’ve completed your nails, accessorise your finger with jewellery of your choice. This helps to enhance the appearance of your nails, as it creates contrast with lighting and also when you look at your hand. The use of rings is helpful for making you stay grounded. You can play around with it and provides a sense of safety that you’re here and alert.

New nail polish, new nail design…

I used vegan nail polish brand Seren and Barry M cosmetics. This was my first time using it, the product is less thicker than your ordinary brand. In total, you will need to use three coats of paint, excluding base coat and top coat. Β I don’t have all the professional nail equipment, but I use what I can in the house to assist the nail looks. Again for this design, I used the edge of kebab sticks (snapped in half) to create the diagonal strokes. It won’t come out perfectly, but it is worth a try when you want to experiment your creativity.

The whole procedure doesn’t take up too much of your day. However, the moment when you are doing your nails allows you to hyper focus. It’s one of the times during the day you can relax and remain mindful of what you’re doing and how you want the pattern/design to be. I used ultra form tips to add extension to the original nail bed. Prior to the installation, a full manicure was done. This includes cutting the cuticles, filling the nail bed to lay flat and shaping your natural nail.

Overall, it’s time to set aside your day to do something nice for yourself. Eventually, once you’ve learnt the expertise of the trade, you can go on to do it for other people and practice. This will help add to your knowledge on how to work with different people and their differentiations.

Once upon a morning…

….you wake up and rise. Unfortunately, you might wake up at a time that is inappropriate for you, but who’s to say it weren’t meant for something you were supposed to do. There are many reasons for being up at this time, it may cause you sigh or wish you go back to bed. This is time where your mind is silenced by the peaceful sounds of nothing. While waiting for the sun to come up, because everything is dark in sight. You hear the effects of driving cars every so often, depending if you live on a busy road or off the main road. Everything seems to popping off in the distance. There’s a party over there and you’re listening.

There comes a time, when it’s okay to resume your schedule. The jump out of the covers to pursue the day. A follow of daily routine that consume your day. It starts with a brush off the teeth and tongue. The eventual end pancaked out in bed (alone). Everything that fills you your day is a sandwich filler. Whether it be a job, children or pursing hobbies; it is a full time occupation of it’s own. You sense the cold these days before you leave your home. It allows you to make good choices of clothes to wear for extra warmth, so you’re not overstimulated by these bitter temperatures.

In the UK, the weather has a individual mind. It can go through different types of changes a day. Increasing and decreasing the temperature as it wants. It fluctuates like the sun and moon does. It is surprising you can wake up to snow dust. The adaptation to it is a must, sometimes you’ll be controlled by an external situation that you can’t trust. That doesn’t always mean to lock yourself in a box. You are free to do as you please, as long as it feels good to you. Make sure you carry emergency winter supplies such as a scarf and gloves. This will help you when it gets rough.

Note: I wrote this as bed time story for those who are wide awake at this time. The time you read it isn’t limited to one specific point to the day. So feel free to browse through at any day.

I dropped out the false tips for a more natural look this time. Sometimes false nails can get in the way of being able to function normally. Especially, if you’re not use to them on a regular basis. Visually, they do look appealing, but for practical reasons, it can cause obstructions to daily life.

I used three colours for this look and one coat of glitter paint and gel top coat to finish it off. The products used were from Rimmel London and Gambrini. If you’re looking to re-create this look at home, all you need is nail polish and kitchen essentials ready. Wait for it.. you don’t need all the fancy appliances from the nail shop to do it. This method allows you to be free with your technique. I used wooden sticks from the kitchen, the ones you put kebab on; to do the gold dots.

The whole process took about over an hour to do. It’s easy for those who have short nails and/or willing to grow them out. In repeated use, false nails can damage the nail bed. So, this type of design can be used as breather period to restore your natural nails back to health.
